Passionate About Helping Others

Angie has over 20 years of business experience in the biotechnology industry including research, project management, finance and business leadership. She is deeply passionate about women’s health and improving access to health care for individuals around the world.

She is also passionate about leveraging the skills she has developed in the business world to make a difference in the community. In addition to establishing Kahawa, she has chaired committees that support local funding for public schools, lead the science fair for her local schools for 6 years, served as coach for over 30 youth sport teams, and has served as a member on the board of directors for two local youth sport organizations. She and her son are active members of their local chapter of Young Men’s Service League which focuses on developing leadership skills for young men and giving back to the community.

Angie holds a MBA from Pepperdine University, a BS in Chemistry from Willamette University and a Certificate of Project Management from the University of California Berkeley Extension Center.

Carol Zoner

​Carol has more than 30 years of experience in building and leading human resources in healthcare, financial services and the life sciences industries. As both an executive and as a consultant, Carol has focused on furthering the development of people, leaders and the environments in which they work. 

This focus has extended into the community where Carol has been involved as a human resources advisor to a local non-profit providing access to shelter, healthcare and other supportive services. She also is committed to supporting job growth and training in the local community and was a leader on a local government workforce development board where she served as Co-Chair. 

As a high school exchange student, Carol lived in South Africa and has never stopped being curious about and exploring the world around her. Carol and her husband have visited a number of developing countries and have seen the need and dramatic impact even small investments in health and education can make in people's lives. 

Carol earned an MBA from the Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and Bachelors degrees in Economics and Spanish from Thiel College in Greenville, PA. 

​Born and raised in Parma (Italy), Davide lived and worked in Switzerland and Brazil before moving to San Francisco (USA) in 2012.  He speaks five languages and he is still amazed at the many ways knowledge is shared and value is created whenever people of different cultures meet.  Davide has over 15 years of business experience in procurement and human capital management.  

As a co-founder of the Kahawa Foundation, Davide is excited about the opportunity to put into practice his business experience and bring to life his passion for bridging cultures to improve access to healthcare in under-served communities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Davide holds a Bachelor and Master of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering (Politecnico di Milano, Italy) and is pursuing a Certificate of Business Excellence at Berkeley Haas School of Business.

Melissa McClain

Head of Communications

Melissa joined the Kahawa Foundation in 2018, as the Head of Communications.  She is responsible for the marketing and communication efforts for the nonprofit, including branding, promotion and website development.

 

Melissa has over 10 years of experience in marketing and communications and is excited to be a part of the foundation and furthering its mission to help prevent cervical caner-related deaths in Tanzania.

Melissa holds a Bachelor Degree in Marketing Communications from Notre Dame de Namur University.

FRANCESCA LAMB

Project Officer

Francesca is drawn to opportunities that address unmet medical need around the world. Her passion for quality health care and increasing patient access to care stems from her personal experiences living with an autoimmune disease.  Francesca began as a volunteer with Kahawa Foundation in 2018 after a trip to Tanzania, where she learned more about the barriers to cervical cancer treatment and prevention. 

 

In addition to supporting Kahawa, Francesca contributes her time and skills as a Board Member of Global Healing, a non-profit committed to delivering medical training to clinics in underserved communities.  With over 15 years experience in clinical development and biotechnology, Francesca has expertise in finance, drug development project management and in clinical research. She has worked in academic and industry settings, leading molecule teams to develop innovative therapies and has led organization infrastructure programs to increase productivity and simplify processes.  She is recognized for cultivating high-performing teams and enjoys mentoring young professionals. 

 

Francesca currently leads Business Intelligence projects at Genentech, Inc. She has a BA in Spanish Language and studied Neuroscience at the University of California, Los Angeles.  She has a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from the UCLA School of Public Health.
